In a bold display of strategic intent and symbolism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid an unannounced visit to the Adampur airbase, visibly debunking Pakistan’s recent claims of having damaged India’s S-400 air defence system.
A striking image of PM Modi greeting Indian Air Force personnel with a MiG-29 fighter jet and a fully intact S-400 system in the background quickly went viral, becoming a direct counter to Islamabad’s disinformation campaign.
Following heightened tensions after Operation Sindoor, Pakistan alleged that its JF-17 fighter jets had targeted and damaged India’s cutting-edge S-400 system stationed at Adampur. Islamabad even circulated satellite images to support its claim. However, experts pointed out that these images showed no evidence of an airstrike—no crater marks, no debris, and no infrastructure damage were visible.
In sharp contrast, visuals from PM Modi’s visit showcased a fully operational, undamaged S-400 launcher, often dubbed India’s modern “Sudarshan Chakra” for its advanced defensive capabilities.
PM Modi’s presence at the base served a dual purpose—boosting troop morale and delivering a clear message of resilience to Pakistan.
“It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination, and fearlessness,” PM Modi posted on X. “India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation.”
Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar praised the move, calling it a “masterclass in fact-checking” and asserting that “just the Prime Minister standing tall with our heroes” was enough to silence hostile propaganda.
Located just 100 kilometers from the international border, Adampur is India’s second-largest airbase and plays a critical role in northern air defence. It has also been central to recent interceptions of drones and missiles launched in response to India’s anti-terror strikes across the border.
Historically, Adampur was a key asset during the 1965 Indo-Pak war, managing to remain secure despite being a prime target.
This visit and its symbolism not only debunked Pakistan’s false narrative but also reaffirmed India’s resolve and preparedness in the face of cross-border threats.
