Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended warm wishes to the nation on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, highlighting its significance in fostering prosperity and reinforcing India’s mission towards becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej or Akti, is celebrated annually and is considered one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar. The festival symbolizes unending prosperity, good fortune, and new beginnings. Traditionally, people buy gold and start new ventures to seek blessings for continued success and stability.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi wrote,
“Infinite best wishes to all of you on Akshaya Tritiya. May this auspicious festival dedicated to humanity bring success, prosperity and happiness to everyone, which gives new strength to the resolve of a Viksit Bharat.”
Union leaders also joined in marking the occasion. Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared,
“Infinite best wishes for Akshaya Tritiya, the festival symbolising the confluence of nature and culture. I wish that this holy festival brings eternal virtue, good fortune and prosperity in everyone’s life.”
BJP national president and Union Minister J.P. Nadda also conveyed his greetings, adding,
“May this auspicious day bring an inexhaustible flow of happiness, prosperity and auspicious opportunities in everyone’s life. May it be a day of positivity, divinity, and self-enlightenment.”
Spiritually, Akshaya Tritiya falls on the third day (Tritiya) of the bright half of the lunar month and is believed to bring everlasting benefits when rituals, purchases, and good deeds are performed. The day also coincides with Parashurama Jayanti, celebrating the birth of the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Many devotees also worship Lord Shiva, adding further spiritual richness to the celebrations.
