A heartbreaking road accident on State Highway 326 near Chatikona claimed the life of a 20-year-old nursing student on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased, identified as Ajay Benia from Paripai village in Kalyanasinghpur block, was a first-year B.Sc. Nursing student at the Christian Hospital Educational Institutions, Bisamkatak. Known as a bright and gentle student, Ajay was riding his motorcycle (OD-07-P-4663) back to his native village when the tragedy struck.
According to police sources, an unidentified speeding vehicle rammed into his motorcycle from behind near the water tank in front of the Chatikona DKDA office. The impact knocked him off the bike, resulting in instant death on the spot. The unidentified driver fled the scene immediately after the crash.
Bisamkatak Police promptly arrived at the site, recovered the body, and seized the damaged vehicle. A case of unnatural death has been registered, and a search operation is underway to trace the fleeing vehicle. The sudden demise has plunged his family, classmates, and native village into deep grief.
