New Delhi: The national capital continues to be in the grip of air pollution. The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stands at 303 and labeled as very poor on Sunday.
The Ministry of Earth Science’s air quality monitor, System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) said at 6 am on Sunday, the concentrations of the particulate matter (PM) with a diameter of 10 and 2.5 microns stood at 238 (‘moderate’ category) and 126 (‘very poor’ category) respectively.
The Central Pollution Control Board said the AQI was recorded at 389 in Chandni Chowk, 324 in Mathura Road, 335 in ITO and 311 in Delhi University (North Campus), all falling under the ‘very poor’ category.
Meanwhile, the air quality was recorded in the ‘very poor’ category in Ghaziabad (Loni), Noida (Sector 1) and Greater Noida (Knowledge Park 5), while it was ‘poor’ in Gurugram (Vikas Sadan) and Faridabad (Sector 16 A).
The health advisory issued by SAFAR said that sensitive people should avoid all physical activity outdoors and confine the activities to indoors.
