As temperatures reach a record-breaking 46.2°C, authorities in Jharsuguda have declared school holidays from April 23 to April 25, 2025, to safeguard children from the relentless heat wave.
The District Collector issued guidelines to prevent heat-related illnesses, including shutting down Anganwadi centres and distributing rations directly to homes.
Industries have been instructed to halt outdoor work between 10 AM and 4 PM, ensuring workers stay hydrated and take frequent water breaks. Additionally, heat stroke treatment rooms have been set up in all primary health centres to provide medical assistance.
Jharsuguda’s soaring temperature marks the highest recorded in Odisha this year, surpassing a 15-year-old record of 46.1°C set in 2010. As the state battles the extreme weather, officials remain on high alert for further precautionary measures.
