Bhubaneswar sweet shops raid

Food safety enforcement teams conducted surprise inspections across several sweet shops in North Bhubaneswar, exposing severe hygiene violations and unhygienic food preparation practices.

During the drives, officials uncovered cockroaches inside rasgullas, flies contaminating milk containers, and foam accumulating in reused oil and sugar syrup vats. Inspecting teams also seized expired flavour essences used in sweet production.

Despite continuous awareness campaigns and periodic raids conducted around festival seasons, several shop owners continue to operate under unhygienic conditions.

Authorities noted that while the retail counters appeared clean to customers, the kitchen areas failed basic sanitation standards. Enforcement officials recorded the violations and initiated regulatory measures to ensure compliance and protect consumer health.
