Bilateral relations between Odisha and Japan are set to reach a major milestone as a high-level delegation from Tottori Prefecture visits the state from November 10 to 12, 2026.

Led by the Governor of Tottori Prefecture, Shinji Hirai, the visit aims to foster long-term collaboration in key sectors including industrial investment, trade, innovation, entrepreneurship, skill development, tourism, and youth exchanges.

Announcing the visit, Hon’bleMinister for Industries, Skill Development, and Technical Education, Sampad Chandra Swain, emphasized that the partnership will lay a robust foundation for strategic economic growth and cultural synergy between the two regions.

The visiting Japanese delegation features prominent leaders across government, finance, and industry, including:

  • Mr. Toshiki Endo, Chief Secretary of Tottori Prefecture
  • Mr. Sasaki, Director General, Commercial Department
  • Ms. Yoshioka, Director, San-in Godo Bank
  • Members of the Tottori Prefectural Assembly, prominent business executives, and student delegates.

The Government of Odisha will be represented by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister for MSME, Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Gokulananda Mallik, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, ACS Hemant Sharma, alongside top officials from state development agencies.

A major highlight of the trip will take place at the State Convention Centre on November 11, where the Government of Odisha and Tottori Prefecture will formally sign a comprehensive Friendship and Cooperation Agreement.

Additionally, two landmark institutional Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are scheduled for exchange:

  1. Startup Odisha & Directorate of Industries, Tottori: Facilitating joint innovation, incubator partnerships, and cross-border startup ecosystems.
  2. World Skill Center & Tottori Prefecture: Enhancing technical training, youth mobility, and workforce readiness.

By combining Odisha’s expanding industrial infrastructure with Japan’s technical expertise and business acumen, this historic visit promises to catalyze sustainable economic opportunities, elevate regional skills, and deepen people-to-people connections between Odisha and Japan.

  • A customer at Regal Food Park in Infocity, Patia, allegedly found insects in the cauliflower served in a vegetable curry. When the customer raised the issue, the restaurant representative reportedly responded dismissively, asking how they could be expected to spot insects inside a cauliflower and stating that nothing could be done.
Despite the complaint, the customer and his friends were required to pay the entire bill. The incident raises serious concerns about food hygiene and the restaurant’s handling of customer complaints.
