Sensex Surges Over 2000 Points, Nifty Tops 24,500 as Global Rally and Crude Slump Lift Markets

Indian benchmark equity indices executed a historic bullish rally on Thursday, November 5, 2026, with the BSE Sensex soaring over 2,000 points and the Nifty 50 crossing the 24,500 mark.

Market sentiment was propelled by a sharp decline in international crude oil prices following the U.S. midterm election outcomes, where Democratic control of Congress raised hopes for diplomatic resolution in the U.S.-Iran conflict.

The 30-share BSE Sensex surged by 2,093 points (2.71%) to reach an intraday high of 79,395.33 near the close of trade, while the Nifty 50 jumped 595.35 points (2.48%) to hit 24,555.95.

Corporate Q2 Earnings & Sectoral Highlights

Beyond macro-driven gains, active buying across corporate heavyweights and quarterly earnings announcements drove significant stock-specific action:

  • Physicswallah (PW): Shares jumped 10.08% to an intraday high of ₹140.25 on the NSE after reporting a massive 102.8% YoY surge in Q2 FY27 net profit.
  • Adani Ports & SEZ: Scaled a fresh 52-week high of ₹1,948.90 per share, tracking broader market momentum.
  • Bharat Forge: Volatile trade following Q2 FY27 results; shares dipped 1.5% to ₹1,785.60 after rising over 4% earlier, as Q2 net profit fell 6.9% YoY to ₹279 crore.
  • Kirloskar Oil Engines: Dropped 8.6% to ₹1,646.80 after reporting a 19% YoY decline in Q2 net profit to ₹131.5 crore.
  • Broader Market Strength: The Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap indices advanced 1.19% and 1.14%, respectively.

  • A customer at Regal Food Park in Infocity, Patia, allegedly found insects in the cauliflower served in a vegetable curry. When the customer raised the issue, the restaurant representative reportedly responded dismissively, asking how they could be expected to spot insects inside a cauliflower and stating that nothing could be done.
Despite the complaint, the customer and his friends were required to pay the entire bill. The incident raises serious concerns about food hygiene and the restaurant’s handling of customer complaints.
