Tarbha Police have cracked an armed highway robbery case near Ghatkaintara Bridge, arresting three key suspects involved in looting two youths at knifepoint.
The arrestees have been remanded to judicial custody after their bail petitions were rejected by the court.
According to police sources, the incident occurred on November 1 at around 11:00 AM. Dharmendra Padhan (24) and Akash Bishi (24), residents of Pandakimal village, were travelling toward Bargarh on a Hero Honda CD Deluxe motorcycle (OR-17-C-3138).
Near Ghatkaintara Bridge, two assailants riding a Honda Shine bike intercepted them, brandished sharp weapons (bhujali), and threatened to kill them if they did not hand over their money. Shortly after, three more accomplices arrived at the scene—one on a Jupiter scooter and two on another motorcycle.
The five-member gang assaulted the victims and forcibly looted ₹3,000 in cash. Additionally, they coerced the victims into transferring ₹5,000 digitally via PhonePe to the mobile number of one of the suspects, Sahil Patra. Before fleeing, the gang also stole the victims’ motorcycle and mobile phone.
