As part of ongoing relief and veterinary assistance in disaster-affected Gidipabali, Rapid Response Teams (RRT) from the Animal Resources Development (ARD) department of G. Udayagiri and Chakapada blocks have launched extensive medical interventions alongside district-level rescue forces.
During the joint operation, teams scientifically disposed of 12 dead animals—including 10 large cattle and 4 goats—by burning and deep burial with quicklime application to prevent disease outbreaks.
Rescuers successfully saved two large animals, administering long-acting antibiotics, steroids, and liquid oral medications. However, an ox rescued earlier with severe head and spinal injuries succumbed during treatment, after which its carcass was also disposed of safely.
Personnel operated under challenging field conditions using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits, several of which were damaged during operations. Authorities have recommended routine health check-ups for all participating staff members. Meanwhile, efforts to rescue surviving livestock in the region remain active.
