Bhubaneswar: After announcing its Mayor candidate of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Odisha Congress on Friday nominated Madhumita Acharya for Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Mayor post.
Senior Congress leader and Jatani MLA Suresh Kumar Routray officially announced Acharya’s name as the Mayor candidate from Congress.
Bhubaneswar District Congress had recommended three names — Rashmi Mohapatra, Subhadra Mishra and Madhusmita Acharya — to the selection committee of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) that approved Madhusmita Acharya as its candidate for Mayor post in Bhubaneswar in the forthcoming ULB polls scheduled on March 24.
The elections to various posts in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) are scheduled on March 24. The polls will be held in 67 wards in Bhubaneswar. For the first time, Mayor will be elected directly by voters. The results will be declared on March 26, 2022.
