Franchises spent a total of ₹73.1 crore as 25 out of the 27 available squad slots were filled during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 auction on Wednesday.
Only Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) concluded the auction with one open slot remaining in their respective rosters, while all other franchises exhausted their allocated player capacity.
Focus on Uncapped Talent and Overseas Stars
The auction saw significant investments in domestic talent alongside established international players. A total of 14 uncapped players secured lucrative contracts, underscoring the growing emphasis on domestic talent scouting across state associations.
Additionally, seven overseas players were picked up during the bidding process, as franchises filled key international player spots ahead of the upcoming tournament edition.
Roster Summary and Final Purse Dynamics
While three franchises completed their full 18-player squad limits, RCB and DC strategically preserved one vacant spot each alongside leftover purse balances. Franchise management across all five teams focused heavily on strengthening all-rounder depth and bowling options ahead of the WPL 2027 season.
