Yemen’s Houthi movement has claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated missile and drone attacks targeting major Saudi Arabian airports, energy facilities and strategic infrastructure, marking a fresh escalation in the long-running regional conflict.
According to Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree, the group targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Najran Airport, an airbase in Khamis Mushait, as well as facilities belonging to Saudi Aramco in Yanbu and the Rabigh oil refinery. The group also claimed to have targeted the Kingdom’s East-West oil pipeline and associated pumping stations.
The announcement came shortly after the Saudi-led coalition reported intercepting and destroying two ballistic missiles allegedly launched toward Taif and Yanbu.
Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the specific Houthi claims regarding the latest attacks. However, civil defense authorities earlier issued precautionary warnings for residents in Taif, Yanbu, Mecca and Jeddah before announcing that the threat had passed.
The latest claims follow a similar Houthi announcement earlier this week, when the group said it had targeted Saudi government and energy infrastructure, including the Defense Ministry in Riyadh and Aramco facilities in Yanbu.
Saudi officials have reported casualties linked to recent incidents in Dammam and said security forces successfully intercepted multiple drones over Riyadh and Medina.
