Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Bastar Pandum program, bringing a message of development, cultural pride, and unity to the tribal heartland of Bastar.

Shah outlined the Modi government’s vision to internationally promote Bastar’s rich traditions, crafts, and cuisine while fostering development in the region.

In his address, Shah commended the decline in Naxal activities in the region, attributing it to the combined efforts of the local population and the government. He highlighted initiatives like financial grants for Naxal-free villages and infrastructure developments such as schools, dispensaries, and roads, aimed at making Bastar a symbol of prosperity.

“Where bullets once echoed, now we hear school bells,” remarked Shah, underlining Bastar’s progress. He also celebrated the contributions of tribal heroes, such as Maharaja Praveer Chandra Bhajdev, to India’s heritage and emphasized the need to preserve Bastar’s cultural treasures.

The Bastar Pandum festival, supported with Rs 5 crore in funding, will expand to 12 categories next year, with participation from across India. This cultural extravaganza aligns with the “Vocal for Local” initiative, spotlighting the artistry, traditions, and resilience of Bastar’s tribal community.
