Reaffirming the State Government’s commitment to creating modern, resilient and citizen-friendly urban centres, the Housing & Urban Development Department will Monday roll out a massive portfolio of 494 development projects under the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikas Yojana (MSBY) across Odisha.

Hon’ble Minister for Housing & Urban Development, Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, will virtually inaugurate completed projects and lay foundation stones for new initiatives during a State-level programme to be held Monday afternoon.

Spread across 37 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), the projects involve a total investment of ₹74.87 crore (₹7,487.46 lakh) and are aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure, improving civic amenities and enhancing the quality of life of urban residents.

As part of the programme, 344 completed projects in 31 ULBs, executed at a cost of ₹36.89 crore (₹3,688.73 lakh), will be dedicated to the people. The completed projects include roads, drainage systems, community infrastructure and other public utility assets that are expected to deliver immediate benefits to citizens.

Among the ULBs, Boudhgarh has completed the highest number of projects with 58 works, followed by Basudevpur with 54 projects and Rourkela with 34 projects.

In the next phase of development, foundation stones will be laid for 150 new projects in 19 ULBs, involving an estimated investment of ₹37.99 crore (₹3,798.73 lakh). Cuttack Municipal Corporation will witness the launch of 50 new projects worth ₹17.20 crore (₹1,720.23 lakh), while Rayagada will take up 22 new projects, marking a significant step towards strengthening urban infrastructure in these areas.

Comprehensive arrangements have been made for the successful conduct of the programme. All Municipal Commissioners and Executive Officers have been instructed to participate in the event through the Odisha State Wide Area Network (OSWAN) and ensure proper coordination and logistical arrangements at their respective ULBs.

The large-scale rollout of projects under MSBY reflects the Government’s unwavering focus on strengthening urban infrastructure and delivering development that directly improves the lives of citizens across Odisha.
