Odisha will ensure road connectivity to all villages with a population of 150 or more by 2027, Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik announced.
The minister emphasised that the government has set a target of constructing over 75,000 roads within the stipulated timeframe.
Naik said more than 30,000 roads have already been completed under the ongoing program. He directed departmental officials to finish all pending work within the deadline. “By 2027, every village with at least 150 residents will have road connectivity,” he stated.
The minister reviewed budget expenditure and instructed officials to achieve 100 per cent utilisation within the next three months. Currently, 53 per cent of the allocated budget has been spent, and the remaining funds will be fully utilised before the end of the financial year.
Highlighting past shortcomings, Naik pointed out that during the previous government, 92 bridges lacked approach roads. He said the current administration has already completed land acquisition for 50 bridges, ensuring smoother progress in infrastructure projects.
The minister stressed that road connectivity is crucial for rural development, enabling access to education, healthcare, and markets. He reiterated that the government is committed to completing all projects on time and delivering tangible benefits to people across Odisha.
