India’s struggles in the ongoing T20 series continued as England secured an unassailable 3-0 lead with a commanding nine-wicket victory in the fourth T20I.
Chasing a modest 159, the hosts cruised home comfortably, leaving the visitors with plenty of questions ahead of the dead rubber.
Having won the toss, India got off to another disappointing start, losing two wickets in the Powerplay with little on the board. Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue exploited the conditions effectively, troubling the Indian top order and applying early pressure. Skipper Shreyas Iyer emerged as the sole standout performer, remaining unbeaten on 80 off 49 balls. However, lack of support from the middle order restricted India to a below-par total of 158.
England’s chase got off to a mixed start with the early dismissal of Jos Buttler, but Phil Salt gradually found his rhythm. Harry Brook then took control in sensational fashion, smashing a blistering 79 at a strike rate of 225. His aggressive knock made light work of the target, wrapping up the game in quick time and handing India yet another defeat.
With the series now decided, England have turned the tables impressively on home soil. India, once the dominant force in T20 cricket, will head into the final match searching for pride and answers, particularly around their batting approach and middle-order fragility.
The decisive performance from Brook, combined with disciplined bowling from Archer and Tongue, highlighted England’s superior execution across departments.
For India, the search for consistency continues as they look to salvage some momentum before the series concludes.
