Bhubaneswar: On the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, 5T Secretary VK Pandian today embarked on a three-day visit to Kalahandi and Nuapada. On the first day, he went to Utkela, Madanpur and Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi to review various development works.
First, Mr. Pandian reviewed the development work of Utkela Airport. The 5T Secretary advised officials to complete the expansion work of Utkela Airport Runway by December 2023 to develop air connectivity to Kalahandi.
Later, Mr. Pandian went to Belakhandi’s famous Uma Maheshwar Dhabaleshwar Shiva temple. He discussed with the servitors and committee members about the development of the temple and advised the District Collector to prepare the DPR for the development of the temple within 15 days.
The 5T secretary also inspected the ongoing transformation work of Madanpur Rampur Community Health Center and suggested completing work within the next six months. Mr. Pandian also inspected the distribution of free medicines at the Niramaya Center.
Mr. Pandian reviewed the progress of the Sandul Barrage being built on the Tel river and advised to finish the work at the earliest. The departmental authorities informed him that the work was aimed to be completed by March 24. After the completion of this barrage, 29 villages of Narla, Karlamunda and Kesinga blocks can get water through underground pipe.
Mr. Pandian went to Narla Stadium and Mission Shakti Cafe and had a discussion with the players and Mission Shakti women.
In Bhawanipatna, 5T secretary went to Police High School and discussed with the teachers and students about the school transformation facilities. This high school is being involved in the third phase 5T High School Transformation Programme. Later, Mr. Pandian visited Asha Sagar and advised to prepare DPR within 30 days for its redevelopment.
From there, he went to Bhawanipatna bus terminal, reviewed the progress of the work and advised to finish the work within the stipulated time.
On the occasion, Mr. Pandian visited Kalahandi Medical College and Kalahandi University and discussed about various problems and developments with the students. The 5T Secretary informed that smart classrooms, e-library and advanced laboratory will be developed in Kalahandi University.
5T Secretary also met Mission Shakti women at Kalahandi Town Hall. He also discussed the development of the famous Lankeswari temple in Junagarh with the temple committee and advised the District Collector to prepare the DPR for redevelopment soon.
5T Secretary VK Pandian also reviewed the progress of Biju Patnaik Stadium at Junagarh.
