59 H3N2 Cases Detected In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: As many as 59 positive cases of H3N2 influenza have been detected in Odisha. It was informed by RMRC Director Dr. Sanghamitra Pati.

As many as 2000 samples were collected in January and February out of which 59 were tested positive for the seasonal influenza, she added.

Public Health Director Dr Niranjan Mishra warned about H3N2 subtype.

‘H3N2 infection shows symptoms similar to Covid 19. Infection causes fever, cough, cold, headache and nausea and vomiting’, he added.

However, there is no need to panic about it, he assured and advised to take precaution

The influenza had claimed twi lives recently- one each in Karnataka and Haryana.

From January 2 to March 5, 451 cases of the H3N2 have been reported in the country, according to data shared by the ministry on Friday. It also said it is keeping a close watch on the situation and cases are expected to decline from month end.
