Tragedy struck Narayanpur Nath Sahi village under Daipura Panchayat in Dhamnagar block when an 18‑year‑old college student drowned in the Reba river on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Ipsita Nath, daughter of Chakradhar Nath. Police said Ipsita, a second‑year Plus‑3 student at Dhamnagar College, had gone to the riverbank with a friend when she slipped on the moss‑covered ghat and was swept away by the strong flood current.
Villagers launched a desperate search and eventually recovered her body from the river. She was rushed to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
