Underlining public safety as the top priority alongside industrial growth, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, IAS chaired a high-level meeting of the State Crisis Group at Lok Seva Bhawan today.
The meeting focused on strengthening prevention, preparedness, rapid response, and post-accident management regarding chemical disasters across Odisha.
The Chief Secretary emphasised identifying potential risks in advance, conducting regular mock drills, enforcing safety audits, and utilising data-driven assessments at both district and local levels.
Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh stressed bringing departmental and district-level preparedness under a unified framework, including GIS-based mapping and reviews of off-site emergency plans for transport routes.
Director General of Fire Services Dr Sudhanshu Sarangi highlighted the necessity of trained manpower, specialised emergency vehicles, and joint exercises among various emergency stakeholders.
Top officials, including Director General of Police Vinaytosh Mishra and secretaries from key departments (Health, Commerce & Transport, Environment, Labour), participated to align medical preparedness, robust databases, and emergency control room capabilities.
All concerned departments and industrial authorities have been directed to strictly adhere to safety guidelines and execute precautionary protocols within a stipulated timeframe to minimise risks to human lives and property.
