A 15-year-old boy was brutally murdered using a knife and bricks in the Dhipapada area under Burla police station limits on Sunday morning.
The victim has been identified as Firoj Behera, a resident of 1R Colony.
According to reports, the lifeless body of the teenager was discovered this morning in an open space nestled between two buildings in Dhipapada. Fearing severe public backlash and retaliation from the victim’s family, two accused individuals directly involved in the crime went straight to the Burla police station and surrendered.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s father, Prakash Behera, Firoj had spent Saturday night with two of his friends, visiting a hookah bar and staying out late. When his family called him late at night, he claimed he was on his way home, but he never returned.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a violent quarrel broke out late at night among the youths, allegedly fueled by a dispute over drug and substance consumption. The argument escalated rapidly, leading to the brutal assault that claimed young Firoj’s life.
This tragic event highlights the growing issue of illegal drug trafficking in the area. Residents have expressed deep concern over how easily young minds are falling prey to local narcotics networks, which are increasingly driving juvenile crime, petty thefts, and violent altercations in the region.
Police have taken the surrendered accused into custody, seized the body for autopsy, and launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover all angles of the homicide.
