Odisha Police announced that 11 Maoists surrendered in Kalahandi district as part of the government’s ongoing campaign to make the state Mao-free by March 31.
The surrender took place at the district police barracks in Bhawanipatna in the presence of senior officials, including Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania.
The surrendered Maoists handed over 11 firearms, live ammunition, mobile phones, and Maoist literature. They pledged to abandon violence and join the mainstream. Police confirmed that each surrendered cadre will receive financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per month for 36 months, along with housing support and skill development opportunities.

DGP Khurania urged remaining Maoists hiding in forests to surrender before March 31, assuring them of rehabilitation and reintegration into society. He emphasised that the government remains committed to eliminating Maoist influence across Odisha.

Senior officers, including ADG Sanjeeb Panda, IG Deepak Kumar, IG Amitendra Nath Singh (CRPF), DIG Akhileswar Singh, DIG Kanwar Vishal Singh (Koraput), and SPs from Nuapada, Kandhamal, and Nabarangpur, attended the event. Kalahandi SP Nagaraj Debarakonda coordinated the surrender program.
