President Droupadi Murmu today addressed the India–Romania Business Forum in the presence of Romanian President Nicușor Dan, senior government officials, and business leaders from both nations.
Highlighting Romania’s strategic location, skilled workforce, and EU integration, President Murmu described the country as a “natural and valuable partner” for India. She noted that the participation of a large Indian business delegation reflects growing confidence in Romania’s opportunities and the desire to forge enduring partnerships.
The President underscored the centrality of trade and economic cooperation, pointing to the nearly two‑billion‑strong market and $25 trillion economic size represented by the India‑EU Free Trade Agreement. She stressed that early implementation of the FTA would provide predictability, strengthen investment flows, and create opportunities for MSMEs, startups, and innovators.
Outlining India’s transformation agenda under Viksit Bharat 2047, President Murmu said the journey offers immense scope for international partnerships, investment, and technology collaboration. She emphasised India’s investor‑friendly reforms, including simplified taxation and production‑linked incentives.
She identified priority sectors for collaboration: energy security and green transition, chemicals and fertilisers, IT and cyber‑security, transportation and logistics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, agriculture, and food processing.
Calling on Romanian companies to actively participate in India’s growth story, President Murmu expressed confidence that businesses from both nations can build resilient supply chains, generate employment, and create sustainable prosperity.
