A shocking incident unfolded in Hindarai village under Naktideul block, Sambalpur district, where a youth was shot dead with a country‑made gun following a quarrel.
Police said the victim, Bharat Dandasena, was killed on Friday afternoon around 3 pm after an altercation with Karuna Kar Majhi (60) near a mango orchard. The accused, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, fired at Dandasena, killing him on the spot.
Majhi fled immediately after the incident but was arrested on Saturday following a police investigation. Officers also seized the country‑made firearm used in the crime.
A case has been registered at Rairakhol police station, and the accused has been forwarded to court.
