Kendrapara: A youth sustained bullet injuries after being shot at by two bike-borne miscreants at Mangala Chhak within Marsaghai Police Station limits in Kendrapara district on Saturday.
The injured youth has been identified as Shakti Chandan Mohanty of Mahira village in Jagatsinghpur district. He is working as a supervisor at a firm.
According to sources, the incident took place between 5 pm and 6 pm today when Mohanty was moving on his bike near Marsaghai Mangala Chhak. Two unidentified miscreants on a Royal Enfield Bullet bike intercepted him and tried to snatch a bag from him.
When Mohanty put up a strong resistance, the miscreants shot him in the stomach and sped away from the scene.
Some locals rescued Mohanty in a profusely bleeding condition and admitted him to the Kendrapada District Headquarters Hospital. On intimation, Marsaghai police reached the DHH and inquired Mohanty about the incident.
Reportedly, Mohanty has been shifted to Cuttack SCB MCH as his condition is critical.
On the orders of Superintendent of Police, Madkar Sandeep Sampad, the district police are carrying out checking of all the vehicles at the entrance of Kendrapada, Marshaghai, and Patakura areas to catch the criminals.
