Ayan Mukerji’s War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has taken the global box office by storm, collecting nearly Rs 165 crore within just two days of release.
The film, part of YRF’s Spy Universe, witnessed a massive turnaround after a lukewarm opening, driven largely by strong Hindi collections on Day 2, coinciding with the Independence Day holiday.
According to early trade reports, War 2 has grossed Rs 108 crore net in India in its first two days, with the overall domestic gross close to Rs 130 crore. The overseas market added over $4 million (approximately Rs 35 crore), pushing the worldwide total to around Rs 165 crore.
The action-packed thriller, a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, has already surpassed the lifetime earnings of Kesari Chapter 2 (Rs 144 crore) and Jaat (Rs 119 crore). Within just 48 hours, it has secured a spot in the top 10 highest-grossing Hindi films of 2025. Industry analysts expect the film to climb higher during the extended holiday weekend, with the potential to break into the year’s top 3 grossers, behind Chhaava and Saiyaara.
Featuring Hrithik Roshan reprising his role alongside Jr NTR in his much-anticipated Bollywood debut, the film also stars Kiara Advani and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles. War 2 has been praised for its high-octane action, slick production, and pan-India appeal.
The post-credits scene has further excited fans, introducing Bobby Deol as the lead in the franchise’s next chapter, Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, slated for release in December 2025.
With strong word-of-mouth and solid momentum, trade experts believe War 2 could comfortably cross the Rs 400 crore global mark within its first week.
