Nabarangpur: Senior BJD leader and 5T Chairman VK Pandian Friday continued his election campaigning in Southern Odisha by addressing public meetings in Umerkote and Jharigaon under Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency and urged the people to vote for BJD’s MP and MLA candidates.
“People’s hopes and confidence are high because of the welfare work done by the state government for the people. Vote on the conch symbol to speed up the transformation process. One vote for Lok Sabha, one vote for Assembly,” he appealed to the voters.
Addressing public meetings at Umerkote and Jharigaon, Pandian criticised Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, without taking his name, for failing to open a single Kendriya Vidyalaya in the Nabarangpur district despite being the Education Minister for the past five years.
Pandian Parliamentary constituency. He mentioned that the Union Minister could have opened 3-4 Kendriya Vidyalayas in the Nabarangpur district if he had the intention to do so.
The Odisha government has transformed 8,500 schools under the ‘5T’ school transformation programme. A special development council has been formed to protect tribal art and culture. Chief Minister has also sanctioned 4 degree colleges in Nabarangpur district, he added.
Giving an account of the development of Umarkote, Pandian said that development works to the tune of Rs. 212 crores are underway in the region. Maa Pendrani temple development work has been completed while work is going on for Podagada Shiva temple and heritage site for Rs 3 crore. A dialysis centre has been opened in Umerkote and Rs 50 crores is being spent for the construction of 5 roads.
Yesterday, VK Pandian visited four assembly constituencies in the Rayagada and Koraput districts and addressed huge public meetings.
