A violent clash erupted between two groups in Gandapalli under Asika NAC  in Ganjam district on Wednesday, leaving eight people injured, including two in critical condition.

The fight began as a verbal dispute between the groups led by Manoj Das, Prashant Das, Pitambar Das, Sweta Das, Papu Das, and Gouri Das on one side, and Rinku Das and Goutam Das on the other. The argument quickly escalated, with both sides attacking each other using iron rods, knives, and sticks.

All injured were initially admitted to Asika Sub-Divisional Hospital. Doctors later referred Rinku Das and Prashant Das to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Brahmapur, due to their critical condition.

Police from Asika station reached the spot soon after receiving information and brought the situation under control. Officers confirmed that an investigation has begun to determine the cause of the clash and identify those responsible.
