The “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan,” a transformative campaign to drive innovation in Indian agriculture, is set to launch on May 29, 2025, from the historic city of Puri, Odisha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the nationwide initiative virtually, marking a significant step toward empowering farmers and strengthening grassroots agricultural development.

The campaign, running until June 12, 2025, aims to bring the Central Government’s key agricultural initiatives directly to farmers across the country.

The launch event in Puri will be attended by prominent leaders, including Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, and Fisheries and Animal Resource Development Minister Gokulananda Mallick.

The day’s events will begin with a visit to the revered Shri Jagannath Temple, followed by a vibrant Triranga Yatra. The campaign will officially commence at the Birgobindapur Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Sakhigopal, where a Krishi Ratha will be flagged off to symbolise the spread of agricultural innovation.

Further highlighting the campaign’s focus on progress, the dignitaries will participate in a series of programs, including events at the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), a Mango Festival at the Central Horticultural Experiment Station, and an initiative by the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT). A key feature of the campaign is the tree-planting drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, promoting environmental sustainability alongside agricultural advancement. These events will see enthusiastic participation from farmers, students, and agricultural experts.

Preparations for the campaign are in their final stages, as confirmed during a meeting held at Krushi Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, along with senior officials such as Director of Agriculture Shubham Saxena, OUAT Vice Chancellor Dr. Prabhat Kumar Roul, and representatives from CIFA, ICAR, and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, reviewed the arrangements to ensure a seamless launch.

The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is poised to be a landmark initiative, fostering innovation, sustainability, and empowerment in Indian agriculture.

With its launch from the culturally significant city of Puri, the campaign signals a new chapter in the nation’s agricultural journey, aligning with the vision of a prosperous and self-reliant farming community.
