Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 97 RR vs SRH Eliminator

In a jaw-dropping display of power-hitting that lit up the IPL 2026 Eliminator, 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi turned a high-stakes knockout contest into his personal playground.

The Rajasthan Royals prodigy smashed a blistering 97 off just 29 deliveries, powering RR to a mammoth 243/8 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Orange Army now faces a daunting chase of 244 to keep their season alive.

From the moment Sooryavanshi walked out to open alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young gun from Bihar announced his arrival with fearless intent. He raced to a half-century in just 16 balls – one of the fastest in IPL playoff history – peppering the boundary with an astonishing 12 sixes and clinical boundaries. Even the vaunted SRH bowling attack, led by the experienced Pat Cummins and others, looked helpless as the teenager dispatched yorkers, bouncers, and full tosses with equal disdain.

Sooryavanshi fell agonisingly short of a maiden IPL century and the fastest ton in league history, departing for 97. But by then, the damage was done. Dhruv Jurel provided explosive support with a quickfire 50 off 21 balls, ensuring RR maintained momentum through the middle overs. The Royals’ innings featured two distinct phases: an all-out assault in the first half that had them cruising past 170 in just 12-13 overs, followed by a spirited fightback from SRH’s bowlers, who restricted the flow in the death overs.

P. Hinge was the pick of the bowlers for SRH, claiming impressive figures of 3/54, but the real story of the night belonged to the “Boy Wonder.” At just 15, Sooryavanshi has already rewritten records this season – breaking Chris Gayle’s sixes tally and emerging as one of the most destructive openers in T20 cricket. His knock wasn’t just about numbers; it was about pure, unadulterated audacity under playoff pressure.

For Rajasthan Royals, this total represents a statement. After a season of ups and downs, they’ve found their mojo at the perfect time. Skipper Riyan Parag and the middle order will now rely on a strong bowling unit, spearheaded by Jofra Archer, to defend this mountain.

As the sun sets on Mullanpur, all eyes turn to SRH’s explosive top order – Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Heinrich Klaasen. Chasing 244 in a knockout game is no small task, even for a batting line-up as formidable as theirs. One thing is certain: this Eliminator has already delivered fireworks, and the second innings promises to be an absolute thriller.

Will the teenage phenom’s magic propel RR into Qualifier 2, or can SRH pull off a chase for the ages? The IPL 2026 playoffs just got hotter. Stay tuned for live updates as SRH begin their reply.
