The Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) office in Sambalpur faced property attachment following a court order on unpaid dues dating back to 1998.
The case centers around Saroj Tripathy, a bus owner from Sambalpur, who had leased two buses from OSRTC and provided a ₹50,000 security deposit as part of the agreement.
After six months, the buses were returned, but OSRTC failed to refund the deposit despite Tripathy’s repeated appeals. Frustrated with the lack of resolution, Tripathy pursued legal action, which culminated in the court ruling to attach OSRTC’s office property in Sambalpur to recover the overdue amount.
This landmark decision highlights the importance of accountability and adherence to financial commitments by organizations, even in long-standing disputes.
