Two persons were killed after a speeding SUV crashed into an electronic shop in the Itamati bus stand area in Nayagarh district on Wednesday.
One of the deceased was the shop owner, while the other was a pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle managed to flee the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car appeared to lose control before ramming into the shop, causing significant damage. The police have launched an investigation into the incident, which is suspected to be a case of drunk driving.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the car belonged to Chhattisgarh and was fully damaged in the mishap. The two dead bodies have been sent to Nayagarh Hospital for post-mortem. The authorities are currently trying to contact the family of the deceased car owner and identify the pedestrian.
