A long-standing land dispute in Kumajor village under Jayapatna police limits of Kalahandi district turned deadly on July 24, when Subeshwar Sabar was killed in a violent attack.
Police said Subeshwar and his wife Satya were returning home from fieldwork around 5 PM when they were confronted by Jagannath Sabar and his son. Armed with sharp weapons and sticks, the duo allegedly assaulted the couple. Subeshwar was rushed to Jayapatna Community Health Centre but was declared dead by doctors.
Based on Satya’s complaint, Jayapatna police registered a case, seized the body, and arrested Jagannath Sabar and Disheswar Sabar. Investigations are ongoing.
The victim, Subeshwar, was the sole breadwinner of his family. His sudden death has left his widow and two minor children devastated.
