Sundargarh: An 18-year-old tribal girl was reportedly gang-raped by three men including her boyfriend in Sundargarh district.
As per reports, on the night of September 16, a girl was ambushed by three individuals, including two minors, while she was attending the Karma festival in her village within the Kutra police jurisdiction in Rajgangpur, Sundargarh district.
One of the accused is said to be the girl’s ‘boyfriend’ who was joined by two friends in taking turns on the victim. The three gang-raped the young girl and fled the area.
Rajgangpur SDPO Abhishek Panigrahi stated that the issue surfaced when the victim, accompanied by her parents, filed a written complaint at the Kutra police station. Following the complaint and the victim’s testimony, the Kutra police initiated a manhunt and successfully apprehended the three suspects.
The Rajgangpur SDPO informed the press, “Due to the sensitive nature of the incident, I cannot disclose further details. However, the event took place on September 16, and we have apprehended the three suspects. The investigation is ongoing. The accused and the victim were acquainted with each other.”
“The victim had gone to witness the Karama festival when the accused took her to a secluded place where they gang raped her. Age verification of the accused is underway and necessary actions will be taken after we confirm of their respective age,” Panigrahi further stated.
