Several districts across Odisha are expected to receive rainfall over the next two days as a cyclonic circulation remains active over the state, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The Regional Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for 23 districts, alerting residents to the possibility of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and isolated hailstorms.
Weather officials stated that rainfall activity is likely to occur across multiple parts of the state on Sunday and Monday, influenced by the current weather system.
Cyclonic Circulation Influencing Weather
Meteorologists reported that a cyclonic circulation has formed over Odisha, extending up to 1.5 kilometres above sea level. The system is currently affecting weather conditions across the state.
Due to this circulation, light to moderate rainfall is expected in many areas until Monday.
Officials noted that the weather pattern could lead to short spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorms in some districts.
Yellow Warning for 23 Districts
The weather department has issued a yellow warning across 23 districts in coastal, northern, western, and central regions of Odisha.
During thunderstorm activity, wind speeds may reach 30 to 40 kilometres per hour in certain areas.
Meteorologists also indicated that isolated hailstorms may occur in some locations.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, particularly during thunderstorm activity.
Cloudy Skies Expected Across the State
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar, cloudy conditions are likely to persist across most parts of Odisha while the cyclonic circulation remains active.
However, rainfall activity is expected to gradually decrease after March 9. Following this period, precipitation is likely to occur only at isolated locations across the state.
Weather experts continue to monitor the situation and will issue further updates if conditions change.
