Puri Beach witnessed a vibrant fusion of tradition and innovation this Ganesh Chaturthi, as Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik unveiled a stunning sand sculpture of Lord Ganesh adorned with 1,500 lemons.
The installation not only celebrated the festive spirit but also carried a powerful message inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives—Atmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India, and Vocal for Local.
Sudarsan Pattnaik, known globally for his evocative sand artistry, said, “On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, we create different sand sculptures every year. This year, we have created a lemon sand sculpture. 1,500 lemons have been installed in sand… Lord Ganesh is blessing us towards building an Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
The sculpture, set against the backdrop of Odisha’s iconic coastline, drew crowds and admiration for its creativity and symbolism. It also subtly referenced India’s defense prowess with a nod to BrahMos, reinforcing the narrative of indigenous excellence.
This unique blend of art and advocacy continues Pattnaik’s tradition of using sand as a canvas for national consciousness, turning grains into grand gestures.
