On the occasion of Labour Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the ‘Odisha Shramik Sathi’ mobile app, aiming to provide key welfare services to construction workers at their fingertips. The launch took place during a state-level celebration at the Krushi Shiksha Sadan auditorium of OUAT, Bhubaneswar.
The ‘Odisha Shramik Sathi’ app will enable workers to access services such as online registration, renewals, and applications for financial assistance directly from their homes. The initiative seeks to improve convenience and accessibility for the state’s labour force under the Construction Workers Welfare Board.
As part of the same event, CM Majhi also inaugurated multi-purpose Labour Waiting Centers at Dumduma and Kalpana Chhak in Bhubaneswar. These centers will offer facilities including shelter, drinking water, toilets, and green spaces for workers awaiting job opportunities.
The Chief Minister announced plans to expand these centers to other urban hubs including Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, and Berhampur. Additionally, several workers were provided assistance under various welfare schemes for education, marriage, maternity, death, and funerals, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving labour welfare across the state.
