The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the formation of two low-pressure systems in the upcoming days—one over the Arabian Sea and the other over the Bay of Bengal.
The system over the Arabian Sea is expected to form near the Karnataka coast on May 21, with projections indicating possible intensification into a depression by May 22 and a cyclonic storm thereafter. Meanwhile, another system is anticipated to develop around May 27 in the eastern central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, potentially strengthening further.
A weather expert noted that the trajectory and impact of the systems will become clearer after May 26, allowing for more precise predictions. Odisha is currently experiencing hot and humid conditions, with temperatures ranging between 38°C and 39°C. The state is likely to see thunderstorms, known as Kalbaishakhi, until May 23 due to an existing trough line affecting the region.
The IMD has advised residents to remain vigilant and keep track of official weather updates to stay prepared for possible adverse conditions.
