The Subarnapur district administration has ordered closure of all educational institutions until June 20, 2026, due to the prevailing severe heatwave conditions.
The directive covers Anganwadi Centres, schools, colleges, technical institutions, and other educational facilities.
District Collector issued the order on June 17, instructing institutions to suspend classes until June 20. Examinations scheduled during this period will continue as per the timetable, but authorities directed that exams be conducted preferably in the morning hours to reduce exposure to extreme heat.
Heads of institutions must ensure the availability of safe drinking water and implement necessary heatwave safety measures for students and staff. The administration emphasised strict compliance with the order to safeguard children and employees from heat-related illnesses.
Officials noted that Odisha continues to face intense heatwave conditions across several districts, prompting precautionary steps.
