Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-conveners Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka appeared before the Delhi Police Crime Branch office in Rajouri Garden on Thursday for questioning regarding cases linked to protests at the de-notified Jantar Mantar site in October.
The two political activists were previously arrested after entering the restricted site and waving the national flag on October 13, an act police stated violated a peace bond signed just days earlier.
The incident stemmed from an October 14 case involving Das, Ranka, CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde, and 11 others who allegedly trespassed onto the location while protesting against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and raising slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
While Shinde was granted bail after signing a peace bond, Das and Ranka spent about a week in judicial custody at Tihar Jail before being released on October 21.
Special Executive Magistrate Ritu Raj ordered their release upon furnishing personal and surety bonds of Rs 50,000 each. Both leaders submitted written undertakings affirming faith in the judiciary and committing to maintain peace. The Crime Branch, which took over the probe, had initially summoned the leaders in late October before granting additional time.
