Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has rewritten box office history by delivering the biggest opening day ever in North America. The Marvel-Sony blockbuster earned a staggering $168 million on its first day, overtaking Avengers: Endgame and setting the stage for a record-breaking opening weekend.
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have another blockbuster on their hands as Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its dream run at the global box office. The fourth standalone Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland has officially set a new North American opening-day record, surpassing the long-standing benchmark established by Avengers: Endgame.
The superhero film collected $72 million from paid previews and advance screenings, breaking Avengers: Endgame’s previous preview record of $60 million. It then added more than $95 million on its first official day, taking its total opening-day earnings to an impressive $168 million. The figure was confirmed by Sony, making it the highest opening-day collection ever recorded in North America.
Brand New Day Eyes Biggest Opening Weekend in History
Initial industry projections estimated the film would earn between $180 million and $190 million during its opening weekend. Strong advance bookings later pushed those estimates to $250 million, and following its massive opening day, Sony has now raised expectations to around $300 million.
Trade analysts, however, believe the film could perform even better. If Brand New Day maintains its momentum over the weekend, it has a realistic chance of surpassing Avengers: Endgame’s all-time North American opening weekend record of $357 million.
Spider-Man Dominates the Indian Box Office
The film has also enjoyed a phenomenal start in India. Released a day earlier than in the United States, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has earned approximately ₹176 crore net (around ₹211 crore gross) within its first three days.
Its performance has already outpaced the opening collections of several major Hindi blockbusters, including Pathaan, Tiger 3, Dhurandhar, and Dangal, highlighting the enduring popularity of the Spider-Man franchise among Indian audiences.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day sees Tom Holland return as Peter Parker. The film also features Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo, and Jon Bernthal in pivotal roles.
The story follows Peter Parker as he begins a new chapter in a world that no longer remembers his identity, forcing him to rebuild his life while embracing the responsibilities of Spider-Man once again.
