The U.S. Space Force has awarded $13.5 billion worth of contracts to SpaceX, United Launch Alliance (ULA), and Blue Origin to launch military and intelligence satellites through 2029.
These contracts, under the flagship National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program, will involve approximately 54 missions in complex orbits.
SpaceX, the leader in reusable rocket technology, secured the largest share of the missions, valued at $5.9 billion for 28 launches. ULA follows with $5.3 billion for 19 missions, while Blue Origin was awarded $2.3 billion for 7 missions. The awards highlight the growing dominance of SpaceX’s Falcon rockets and ULA’s Vulcan rocket in national security endeavours.
These contracts mark Phase 3 of the NSSL program, focusing on the most intricate and demanding launch operations. SpaceX continues to rise as a dominant player in the military space sector, promising cost-efficient and reliable solutions.
