Bhubaneswar: Hours after the Biju Janata Dal declared its candidates for 27 assembly seats, BJD’s Soro MLA Parsuram Dhada and former Phulbani MLA Debendra Kanhara quit the conch party after being denied tickets to contest the 2024 polls.

BJD Supremo this evening declared the names of five Lok Sabha nominees of 27 assembly candidates. Changing its candidate, the BJD has fielded Madhab Dhada from the Soro Assembly seat and Jayshree Kanhar from the Phulbani Assembly seat.

In a letter to party president Naveen Patnaik, Parshuram Dhada tendered his resignation from the Primary Membership of the Biju Janata Dal.

“During the past ten years, I had been given the opportunity to serve the public and I am grateful for the support and cooperation received. But for the last one year or so some intermediary executives of the party misreported the facts and did not render due support. In spite of that I had been carrying on my utmost efforts with due sincerity. With a heavy heart I request you to accept my resignation, MLA Parshuram Dhada wrote.

Similarly, Kanhara also tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the Conch party.

In a letter addressed to party president, Naveen Patnaik, the former legislator wrote: “With a heavy heart, let me inform you that after working for around 15 years continuously from 2009, now I feel it to be the right time to tender my resignation from the primary membership of the party.

I thank your honour and all BJD Party co-workers for providing the opportunity to serve the party sincerely.”
