In a significant step towards safeguarding the sacred traditions and heritage of the Jagannath Temple, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has achieved a major success in its trademark protection drive.
Following the second stage of scrutiny by the Trademark Registry, five crucial applications have been approved for publication in the upcoming Trademark Journal.
These include:
- Jagannath Dham
- Shreekhetra
- Mahaprasad
- Nilachakra
- Koili Baikuntha
Officials said the move is aimed at preventing unauthorised commercial use of names and symbols deeply associated with the temple’s spiritual and cultural identity. By securing these trademarks, SJTA ensures that sacred terms linked to Lord Jagannath and the temple’s rituals remain protected from misuse.
This development follows earlier efforts to register temple‑related names and symbols, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to preserving the sanctity of Jagannath culture and tradition. The initiative is expected to strengthen legal safeguards while promoting respect for the temple’s heritage worldwide.
