In a bid to strengthen the post‑flood healthcare system and ensure continuous monitoring of affected areas, the Odisha Health Department has deployed senior officials to flood‑hit districts.
Officials left for their respective districts this morning and have begun reviewing healthcare arrangements on the ground. They will coordinate with district administrations and local health teams to assess the situation and take necessary measures.
Among those deployed are Special Secretary Dr Bijay Mishra (Baleswar), DPH Dr Rabindra Mishra (Bhadrak), DFW Dr Rajendra Panigrahi (Kendujhar) and DHS Dr M. M. Panda (Jajpur).
Chief Secretary Anu Garg stated that extensive preventive measures are being taken to ensure no epidemic or disease outbreak occurs in flood‑affected areas. Priority will be given to sanitation and disinfection of submerged villages, roads and public places once floodwaters recede.
Special emphasis will be laid on controlling water‑borne and communicable diseases, ensuring safe drinking water, maintaining adequate stocks of essential medicines, and providing uninterrupted healthcare services.
Authorities also confirmed steps to clean and disinfect drinking water sources and remove spoiled food items, animal carcasses and decomposable materials left behind after the floods.
The State Government reiterated its commitment to continuous field‑level surveillance, early identification of health risks and prompt management, safeguarding the well‑being of people in the affected districts.
