A Naxalite was killed during an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district on Friday night.
The gunfight occurred deep in the forest under the Jugad police station limits, where a specialised team of security personnel was conducting an anti-Naxalite operation.
Following the exchange of fire, authorities recovered a firearm and the body of the deceased insurgent from the scene. Officials have intensified search operations in the area to identify possible accomplices and secure the region from further militant activity.
The encounter marks another significant step in ongoing efforts to curb Naxalite presence in Chhattisgarh, a region that has long witnessed insurgent operations disrupting local governance and safety.
