The Odisha government has announced the closure of schools in four districts — Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, and Jajpur — on Friday in view of the prevailing flood situation.
All government and private schools in these districts will remain closed as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff. Authorities have further declared a holiday for schools in Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur on Saturday, extending the closure due to worsening flood conditions.
Officials stated that the decision was taken after floodwaters continued to affect several areas, posing risks to commuting students and school infrastructure. District administrations have directed schools to comply with the order until conditions normalise.
Parents and residents have been urged to remain vigilant and follow official advisories. The government emphasised that the closures are temporary but necessary to safeguard children during the ongoing flood crisis.
