Kalimela police have seized a tractor allegedly involved in illegal sand transport after it was found misusing a press identity.
The incident occurred near MPV‑33 village, about 8 km from Kalimela police station, during a routine crackdown.
The tractor and trolley, which carried no valid registration numbers, had “PRESS” written in bold letters to evade suspicion. Police confirmed that the vehicle was loaded with sand and detained during the operation.
Authorities stated that the arrested accused, identified as Bishnu Jharabula, has been booked under multiple charges including illegal sand transport, operating an unregistered vehicle, and misuse of press identity. The seized Mahindra tractor and trolley have been taken into custody.
Kalimela police registered Case No. 165/2026 and emphasised that strict action will be taken against individuals misusing press credentials for unlawful activities. Station officer Prabhudatta Biswal noted that the administration is keeping a sharp watch on such fraudulent practices to protect the integrity of journalism and curb illegal sand trafficking.
