India’s dynamic wicketkeeper‑batter Rishabh Pant has etched his name in history, becoming the first Indian and only the third player worldwide to hit 100 sixes in Test cricket.
Pant achieved the feat during India’s first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle, hammering a brisk 66 off 69 balls with eight fours and two sixes at a strike rate above 95. His tally now stands at exactly 100 sixes, trailing only Ben Stokes (138) and Brendon McCullum (107).
The milestone came in just 4,918 balls, making Pant the fastest to reach the mark—surpassing Australian legend Adam Gilchrist (6,578 balls). His ratio of one six every 49.2 balls is the best among batters with a century of sixes.
Despite missing out on a century, Pant’s aggressive innings helped India extend their lead beyond 350 runs. In 2026, he has scored 186 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 73.80, though his last Test hundred came at Leeds against England last year.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, continue to fight back, but India remain firmly in control after setting a daunting target.
